How do telehealth appointments work?

When you create an account with our scheduling software, Jane App, you will have access to telehealth video conferencing. To learn more click here: https://jane.app/guide/telehealth/how-to-join-your-online-appointment-for-patients
Please have your computer set up in a quiet and open space where your DPT can watch you move. Ideally, your DPT should be able to observe you sitting, standing, moving, and laying down if you are comfortable and if necessary. Please wear athletic attire- ideally, shorts and a tank top or sports bra so that your DPT can properly visualize the area(s) she may be treating.

What types of treatment can I receive with telehealth?

A telehealth appointment is a great opportunity to ask all your questions face to face with your physical therapist. Our DPTs want to understand your concerns, goals, and lifestyle. They will review your medical history and current concerns. Your DPT will observe your posture and movement patterns. They will teach you normal anatomy using models and pictures as needed and explain how your current anatomy, movement patterns, posture, and medical history may be contributing to your current symptoms. Your DPT will provide “homework” that may include exercises for strengthening or relaxing your muscles, changes to your posture or movement patterns, recommendations for positioning, icing, heating, and if indicated, hands on techniques that can be applied by you or a partner such as: stretches, scar mobilizations, massage, and joint mobilizations. After your appointment, you will receive an email with PDF files of prescribed homework. These documents will also be available on your Jane account. You will have continued email, text, and phone support from your DPT during normal business hours throughout the course of your treatment.

What types of treatments do you provide? Treatment may include, but is not limited to the following:
  • Joint mobilization and manipulation
  • Soft tissue mobilization (similar to massage)
  • Cupping
  • Trigger Point Dry Needling
  • Scar tissue mobilization
  • Exercise prescription and instruction
  • Pilates based exercises
  • Athletic/ Kinesio taping
  • Education on improving  posture, positioning, and movement patterns
  • Ergonomic education
How do I access paperwork for my first visit?

Upon scheduling your first appointment through Jane App you will be prompted to complete the necessary paperwork for your first visit. We know this information is personal and your privacy is of utmost importance to us. All of our software and electronic medical records are HIPPA compliant. Your DPT will personally review these forms prior to your first visit.

What should I expect on my first visit?

When you enter the building, please wash hands in the restroom across the hall and have a seat on the couch in the waiting area and your DPT will be with you shortly. No need to sign in or ring a bell. Your DPT will come out to greet you within a few minutes of your scheduled appointment time.

During the first visit, your DPT will spend significant time getting to know you. They want to understand your concerns, goals, and lifestyle. Your DPT will provide education on normal anatomy using models and pictures as needed and thoroughly explain her examination strategies. If you are comfortable, your DPT will perform a complete examination to determine areas of muscular imbalance, postural deficits, and faulty movement patterns. This often includes hands on muscle testing, measurement of joint motion, observation of movements, and sometimes, an internal examination of the pelvic floor region. Your DPT will explain her examination findings throughout the evaluation and you will discuss treatment options together. The first visit typically involves significant education on normal anatomy, the findings of your examination and ways to change movement patterns. You will likely be prescribed a home exercise program and receive hands on treatment at your first session.

What should I wear to my visit(s)?

This depends on the body part that is requiring treatment. Typically, athletic attire such as shorts and a t-shirt is helpful, but not required. Your DPT may ask you to wear a gown (provided) so that they can adequately visualize and access the area she is treating.

What should I expect if I am being treated for pelvic floor dysfunction (ie: incontinence, pelvic pain, post-partum related concerns)?

We know that many patients are nervous for their first appointment with a pelvic health specialist. Our DPT’s goal is to educate, evaluate and treat you in the most professional, private and comfortable way possible. After explaining both how and why they will be performing her examination, if you are comfortable, your DPT will evaluate the pelvic floor musculature and surrounding regions such as the lower back, pelvis, hips and abdominals. The pelvic floor muscles can be evaluated internally through the vagina, rectum and/or externally. Your DPT is happy to discuss this type of evaluation and treatment prior to your appointment if you have additional questions. Please contact your DPT directly via the email or phone number listed above as needed.

What if I am being seen for pelvic health concerns and I am menstruating?

Internal assessment and treatment can still be performed during a menstrual cycle if you are comfortable with this option. If so, your DPT will utilize chucks pads on the treatment table and provide you with a feminine hygiene kit including a panty liner, tampon and wipes. If you are not comfortable with internal work, your DPT will focus on external surrounding areas such as the hips, lower back, abdomen and pelvis. You may also cancel your appointment and reschedule for a later date through Jane App (https://popperpt.janeapp.com/). Please try your best to cancel with at least 24 hours notice. If you are unable to provide this notice, please call or text Rachel immediately at 720-591-6753 to discuss options.

What if I need to cancel or change my appointment?

Appointment changes can be made online:https://popperpt.janeapp.com/. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a fee of 50% of the appointment cost. If you no show to your appointment, you will be charged 100% of the appointment cost. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice two or more times, the therapist reserves the right to terminate all future appointments. We do make exceptions for illness and inclement weather at the therapist’s discretion and due to COVID-19. The card on file will be run automatically under the circumstances listed above.
